UPDATE- 7/18/08

As expected, the 2010 Camaro will be available in three trim levels — LS, LT and SS. The two base cars will use a 296 horsepower 3.6L V6, while the high-performance SS will be motivated by a 416 horsepower 6.2L V8. Either engine choice can be mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The Z28 model has been officially canceled! GM will not produce a version of the Camaro with the supercharged 6.2L LS9 engine from the ZR1. GM is siting production and fuel prices as the main reason for the cancellation.

With four-wheel independent and StabiliTrak stability control standard, the Camaro will tip the scales at about 3,700 pounds, but is said to have a near ideal 52/48 weight distribution. As seen in previous spy photos, the SS model will feature Brembo brakes

Although the V6 models will do battle with low-end Mustangs and Challengers, a turbocharged four-cylinder is still not out of the question. The automaker hopes to sell as many as 100,000 units annually.

Overall, the body shape looks very similar to the Camaro Concept. Apparently, GM has added a B-pillar to the Camaro’s body structure for added strength. Otherwise, the car is virtually unchanged from the concept, as GM has promised.
